Along the historic shoreline of Kalahuipua’a at Mauna Lani, Luau Hale Hoaloha invites guests to spend an evening surrounded by ocean breezes, island music and stories rooted in Hawaii Island. This special place was once home to royal fishponds and generations of Hawaiians who gathered near the sea, and its history still shapes the celebration today.

The evening begins with a warm welcome, a complimentary cocktail, traditional makahiki games on the Hoaloha lawn and live island music beneath the open sky. Guests can then watch the imu ceremony as kalua pork, slowly cooked underground since morning, is uncovered and prepared for the feast.

Dinner features a generous buffet inspired by the land and waters of Hawaii Island. Fresh ahi poke, kalua pork, island fish, coffee-rubbed roast striploin, colorful salads, children’s favorites and decadent desserts offer something for nearly every appetite.

As twilight settles over the coast, hula and mele bring the legends of Kalahuipua’a to life. The full evening production celebrates Hawaiian history and the five great mountains surrounding this storied place. A dramatic fire-knife performance brings the night to an exciting close, creating a memory that lasts long after the final flame disappears.
